Do you ever feel like you’re going in circles and not making any progress? At least the kind of progress you’re expecting.
If you’re like me, you have hopes and dreams which you want to fulfill. But life can be so confusing at times. And most days it can seem like we’re just surviving instead of living out our dreams.
So many distractions. Way too many choices. Unlimited interruptions.
Some days I feel like I have one foot nailed to the floor while my other foot attempts to step out in every other direction. I’m expending a lot of energy and mental fatigue, but going nowhere.
Wouldn’t it be awesome to wake up every morning and be assured you’re on the right path towards your goals? To know with certainty that you’re headed in the right direction. To feel confident with each step without questioning yourself every ten seconds.
If I’m not careful, I call fall into the pattern of second guessing myself and waffling on my decisions. Does that ever happen to you? It’s exhausting, isn’t it? Sometimes I find myself running to God after I’ve tried fixing things on my own with no avail.
James 1:6-7 tells us that when we go to God for help, we must believe that He’ll come through for us. If we doubt or become “double-minded”, we should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
How we approach God {expectantly vs hesitantly} will have a direct effect on the outcome of our requests.
I’m so excited to share a priceless nugget of truth I discovered in Scripture. It addresses our desires and want-to for clear direction. It’s found in Psalm 25 which was written by King David.
I’ve been praying and applying these verses in my own life for months. Today, I will begin praying these verses over you.
We ask:
Show me the right path, Oh LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:4-5
God answers:
The LORD is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness to all who keep His covenant and obey his demands. Psalms 25:8-10
Based on these verses when can be confident of this:
- God will always choose what is right for us.
- When we get side-tracked God will direct us back to the right path.
- We’re not alone ~ God leads and teaches us along the way.
- God always directs us with unfailing love and faithfulness.
If you’re unsure about some things in your life today, go to God for help.
If you feel like you’ve somehow gotten on the wrong path, seek God for direction. He promises to get you back on track if you are willing to follow Him.
I want to encourage you to personalize Psalm 25:4-5 by inserting your name and turning it into a prayer. Then memorize the promises of Psalm 25:8-10 and begin applying these truths to your life.
I’ve asked God to etch these verses onto my heart, so I’ll always have them with me. Especially on those days when I feel like I’m going in circles.
It’s Your Turn:
Do you feel like you’re going in circles? Are you on the wrong path, but not sure how to get onto the right one? Are you uncertain about the direction you’re headed?

Needed this today. I’m 62 & gave up a career to raise my children. Now that they are gone, I struggle with “goals” for my life or the path God would have me to take. I am fighting depression, & ask that you would pray that I would trust God, even in this dark time, & that He would show me His paths for my life. It is hard to be motivated to do anything when I’m depressed, so I am praying for the strength & the willingness to be obedient to His call at this stage of my life.
Leah says
Vicki, I struggled with clinical depression in my past and know how dark a place it can be. I’m paying for you today. I know it’s hard but try not to stay home and isolate yourself. It only makes the depression worse. The best remedy I’ve found for depression is getting involved with a project where you’re helping others. Scientific research has proven it actually stimulates “happy chemicals” in your brain (like endorphins and dopamine) which helps your body fight against depression.

i need some prayer. I finally got my taxes done and I owe $3,022.00 dollars. I was recently out of a job for 8 1/2 months and what money I saved up is now gone. I am not sure how I will pay this bill. On top of that I have felt completely lost my whole life. I wonder if there is even a right path for me to follow. I want to do something meaningful with my life but I don’t know what I am even capable of doing. I used to have many dreams of what I would be when I grew up but I have yet to figure out what I am good at these day.
Leah says
Kelly, it took me a while to figure out my calling in life. What are the many dreams you had? Start thinking about them again. I can recommend a great book called Strength Finders. It includes a short questionnaire which reveals your top 5 strengths. It also offers suggestions as to what careers are a great match based on your results. You can probably buy it on Amazon. No matter what…don’t give up and don’t throw away your dreams. I”m praying for you!

Leah, I have found your blog and the Anxiety Cleanse very helpful. Thank-you for the Biblical reminder today! I am finding I try too hard to fix things for my kids. I have four kids in various stages of their walk with the LORD. As they struggle in different areas, I need to continually ask for God’s direction for my role and to release them to God.
Leah says
Heather, I’m right there with you. I’d fix (or at least try to fix) every problem my sons encountered if they’d let me. Releasing our children to the Lord is because we love them so much! But they belong to God and are only ours for a little while. With God’s help, I’m doing a much better of mothering, instead of smothering my kids. 🙂 So glad you’re finding the Anxiety Cleanse helpful!
Annette says
Heather I too am loving the Anxiety Cleanse and can relate to your struggle with being a “fixer” 😉

Pray for me and my decisions regarding my marriage. H moved out 18 months ago. Behavior with regard to other women has not changed. We have 2 daughters (ages 18 and 23) and have been married for 28 years. We did intensive counseling about 2 years ago, tried again in January. He sees no hope. Wants one foot on both sides of the fence. This message was so very timely for me. Pray that God grants me wisdom.
Leah says
Evalyn, I’m so sorry to hear about the struggles your facing in your marriage. I’m praying that God will change your husband’s heart and restore the intimacy that has been stolen from you. Only with God is this possible. I’m praying for you to as I’m sure you are hurting deeply.

I love this Leah!! And the timing was absolutely perfect!! I don’t have time to share all the details now, but know this I related to all you said!! Psalms 25:4-5 was the verse I had at She Speaks in ’09, so it’s a special one, but love how you brought in the following verses. Praying He etches this on my heart as well!!
And for prayers…we’ve had a change of plans for Easter…instead of going to my sis-in-laws 35 people are coming to our house!! I have a bit of work to do and two little boys who are good at undoing it!! Prayers would be a good thing!! Also I’d like to ask you to pray for me as I try to encourage and speak Truth to a friend who’s wanting to leave her marriage. Thanks! How can I pray for you?
Leah says
Jill, I’m so glad these verses in Psalm 25 are settling into your heart this morning. The Lord certainly knows how to feed our soul and spirit … at just the right time. Sounds like you’ve got quit a crew coming to your house for Easter. I’m asking God to send helping hands so you don’t feel like you’ve got to accomplish “feeding an army” all by yourself. 🙂 Also praying for your friend’s marriage. I know God will give you just the right words to share with her. Cyber hugs!

Amen for this today! I have been struggling with my work path and I think it’s because when I am trusting in the Lord, Satan is finding ways to make it falter. I am so grateful for blogs such as these as well as Biblical truths that I read to keep me going. My work path has always been one of my greatest struggles and I ask for prayer that I continue to walk and wait upon the Lord without discouragement. Thank you!
leah says
Michelle, work environments can be so challenging at times. Especially when things don’t unfold the way we had hoped. When we are waiting on the Lord to move on our behalf, it sometimes feels like nothing is happening. Oh, but it is! As you wait and pray, be assured that God is moving heaven and earth on your behalf. His timing is always perfect and He is never late in orchestrating His plans for you. Never.

Leah, I love your devotions!!! They really speak to me – thank you!!! I would appreciate your prayers regarding our son. He’s 19 and things are really difficult right now. We are trying to do the right things to guide and parent him, but it feels like we are running in quicksand. We are definitely praying for God’s direction, but still really confused and weary. I know we aren’t the first to go through this. It’s just really heartbreaking!!!
Thank you so much!!!

Annette, I have two sons so my heart is tender towards your prayer request. I can relate to the many bumps in the road we moms (and dads) encounter when it comes to raising up godly young men as leaders for Christ. This kind of work is not for wimps. Below are some verses I’ve turned into a personal prayer of faith for my boys. Even if I’m not seeing all the fruit in their lives just yet, I’m believing the harvest is coming! I’m praying this over your son today. 🙂
Psalm 1:1-3 says, “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow evil men’s advice, who do not hang around with sinners, scoffing at the things of God. But they delight in doing everything God wants them to, and day and night are always meditating on his laws and thinking about ways to follow him more closely. They are like trees along a riverbank bearing luscious fruit each season without fail. Their leaves shall never wither, and all they do shall prosper.”
Annette says
Thank you so much!!! Your response means more than you know!! Have a Blessed Easter!!!! 🙂
