On a scale from 1 to 10, how busy are you this week? My guess is that you’re toggling somewhere around an 11. I know… me too!
Thanksgiving is such a special time of the year. A time to celebrate and give thanks to God for all that He’s provided and to praise Him while acknowledging His Almighty presence in our lives.
But sometimes we can get caught up in the “gotta get it done” mode which makes us rush and feel pressured instead of slowing down and feeling grateful. For some of us, this week holds extra responsibilities than normal. The list of gotta-get-it-done may include:
~ Catching a plane or driving for hours to spend Thanksgiving with relatives.
~ Preparing meals and getting the house ready for out-of-town company.
~ Working extra shifts to cover co-workers that are vacationing this week.
~ Clipping coupons and strategizing the meticulous shopping route for Black Friday.
~ Caring for a loved one in the hospital or grieving the loss of someone you miss in the worst way.
Where ever you are today – physically, mentally, emotionally – I want you to know that I am praying for you. Even if we’ve never met before I still consider you a dear friend in Christ and want to include you in my prayers.
This morning as I was praying and looking for a verse to share with you I came across this beauty in Psalm 28:7.
The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust Him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving Psalm 28:7
No matter what this week holds for you, my prayer is that you would take time to seek God, in the midst of your busyness, and experience His strength that will fill you up again.
If things don’t go exactly as you planned or if someone ruffles your feathers, my prayer is that you would go to God first for help and trust in Him above all else, knowing He is right there with you.
My prayer is that your heart will be filled with an overflowing spring of peace that bubbles up with joy and causes you to burst out in a little song (or two) just for the LORD’s pleasure.
I can hear the melody already.
Oh, I hope with all my heart that you will celebrate God’s presence in your life as you celebrate Thanksgiving with others this week!
Happy Thanksgiving, sweet friend…
