Ready or Not

Ready or Not

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you feel like you’re being pulled in a million different directions? Well, I’m having one of those, THIS week! It’s all good stuff and I’m thankful for each opportunity that requires my attention, but sometimes having too much on my plate can make me feel a little overwhelmed. You too?

On Thursday, my husband and I are taking our oldest son, Brody to N.C. State University for his freshman orientation. Gosh, it’s one step closer to Brody’s move out date and can I just say I’M NOT READY! The summer is going by way to fast and I’m not looking forward to the school year beginning in August.

Summer has been fun. Summer has been exciting. Summer has included family bonding experiences.

Maybe some of you are sending a child (or two) off to college this fall and can identify with those empty feelings that a momma experiences when one of her “baby birds leave the nest”. My mom use to say, “cutting those apron strings is never easy.”

I’m bracing myself – or at least trying to – but I have a feeling it’s going to be like every other major event in my life…M-A-J-O-R

Over the years, I’ve discovered that no one can really prepare you for those major life events – not even yourself. Major life events – like sending your first born off to college – have to be experienced and embraced one day at a time. The good. The bad. The ugly. Yep, maybe I should run to Sam’s Club right now and buy one of those multi-packs of box tissues. I have a sneaking suspicion I’m going to need them. Economy size!

Then again, life is also filled with fun and exciting life events. I get to experience one of those this weekend! Immediately following Brody’s NCSU orientation, I’m heading to the She Speaks Conference where I will be speaking on Saturday morning. Over 700 women have registered this year and it’s going to be an incredible conference.

She Speaks is the brain child of Proverbs 31 Ministries. If you’re a speaker, author, or serving in leadership at your church/community, this conference is for you. I’ve attended and spoke at She Speaks the last 7 years and I will tell you that it ALWAYS sells out. It’s a conference you won’t want to miss!

If you’re seriously interested or just plain curious, click here for more details. It’s never too late to start planning for next year’s conference. I promise, you won’t regret going.

Although I have a lot going on, I’m never too busy for you.  How can I be praying for you this week? Are you struggling with a problem, a health issue, or maybe dealing with a person that’s causing you some heartache? If so, just leave your prayer request below so that I can be praying for you this week.  If your request is too confidential and you don’t feel comfortable leaving your name, that’s totally okay. God knows who you are even if you put “anonymous” down in the comment box.

One more thing before I sign off. After several requests from friends and family, I finally took time this week to post pictures of our family’s trip to Europe on facebook.  I took over 1500 pictures on our trip but don’t worry, I’ve only posted my absolute favorites.  You can see them on my facbook wall by clicking here

Question: How can I be praying for you this week? Just leave your prayer request below and know that I’ve got you covered, sister.
